The Unmade
About the Job
THE UNMADE is the physical embodiment of an unfinished creation made by two artists. Faceless, broad-shouldered, handmade, and visibly incomplete, the creature gradually develops its own presence and agency. This is primarily a PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE / MOTION-CAPTURE role. The Unmade is not a conventional attacking monster. Its movement should feel intelligent, observant, unfamiliar, and emotionally readable without relying on facial expressions. The performer must be able to communicate curiosity, confusion, hurt, authority, vulnerability, and emerging self-awareness almost entirely through posture, stillness, head movement, hands, walking patterns, and controlled changes in body language. Small movements matter. A head tilt, a shift in weight, one deliberate step, or several seconds of complete stillness may carry more importance than large creature movements. The performance should avoid stereotypical zombie movements, exaggerated monster poses, random twitching, or constant contortion. The goal is to make the audience feel that an unfinished object has gradually discovered that it can choose how to move. Motion-capture/reference performances may later be used to drive or guide digital versions of The Unmade while preserving the actor's physical performance. The character's final voice may be created separately from layered performances by the actors portraying Isaiah and Marcus. Creature performer is therefore not required to provide the final character voice. Seeking performers with exceptional body awareness and physical storytelling ability. Performers with backgrounds in motion capture, creature performance, mime, dance, movement theater, puppetry, physical theater, stunt performance, or similar disciplines are encouraged to submit. Formal motion-capture experience is NOT required if the performer demonstrates exceptional physical acting ability. Unknown and emerging performers are strongly encouraged to submit.
